On 1-3 December 2014, the Bayview Hotel in Melaka hosted the 2nd International Symposium on Insects (ISoI). The Symposium was organized by the Malaysian Entomological Society (ENTOMA) and the Centre for Insect Systematics (CIS). Insects: Harnessing the Power, Unlocking its Potential is the Symposium’s theme.

Prof. Dr. Ille C. Gebeschuber of the Institute of Applied Physics (Vienna University of Technology, Austria) and the Institute of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia) gave the keynote address, “Biomimetic Nanotechnology Inspired by Insects.” The Symposium featured over 100 oral and poster presentations.
